Nancy Cooke for School Trustee 2011

I am running for School Trustee in the Louis Riel School Division, Ward 2,  in the City of Winnipeg by-election, November 26, 2011.

In 1989 I graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation, Occupational Therapy.

For the past 10 years I have been working closely with my husband, Bill Cooke as his Business Manager at The Osborne Dental Group.

My husband and I have two children both of whom are attending schools in the Louis Riel School Division. My strong belief in the importance of parental involvement in the Public School System led me to become Chair, Co-Chair, and Committee member of our Parent Council over the past 12 years.

I have participated in numerous School Board meetings and parent consultations.

During this time I was fortunate enough to participate in the amalgamation of the former St. Boniface and St. Vital School Divisions and the creation of the present Louis Riel School Division.  This experience allowed me to gain an understanding of what both of the former School Divisions brought into our existing School Division.

I believe The Louis Riel School Division offers diverse and enriching academic and social experiences for our children.

As your School Trustee I will ensure that the students and teachers in the Louis Riel School Division have the necessary resources available to them to support all children while being financially responsible with taxpayers’ money.

I will provide a voice for the Parents and Community members and work to ensure that the schools in the Louis Riel School Division are meeting the needs of those who use them and those who support them.

On November 26, 2011, please vote for Nancy Cooke to serve public schools in LRSD.
